Course Description

This course offers a introduction to the skills needed to teach others, using the principles of community music.

What will I learn?

Topics covered include:

  • Introduction to the role and responsibilities of a community music mentor
  • What helps people learn
  • How to communicate clearly
  • Choosing and creating musical ideas
  • Boundaries, Confidentiality and Health and Safety

Methods

  • Practical exercises and games
  • One-to-one teaching practice
  • Written work (some of this to be completed at home)
  • Small group and individual work

What Will I Gain?

You will have the opportunity to submit a portfolio of evidence to be awarded a level 2 credit which can count towards further educational qualifications.
