Community Music Wales has developed on-going training opportunities for practitioners wishing to continue their training.
Examples of CPD training can be varied and tailored to the needs of the tutors.

Icebreakers & Challenging Behaviour
Dealing with Challenging behaviour/ assertiveness
What is community music and learning styles?
Icebreaking exercises and skill sharing
Reflective tutor, supporting each other as tutors including peer support techniques
Drumming and Percussion for workshops
This workshop is designed for tutors who would like to use drumming and percussion in a workshop setting, a chance to explore different approaches to drumming workshops. The workshop will build on your own skills, understanding the basic techniques on different instruments, warm ups, practical ideas and approaches, working with those who have difficulty playing in time.
Animation & Video Editing for Group Workshops
Informal sessions looking at video editing using Movie maker and Premiere and basic animation using Stop Motion Pro. It will also include information on how to incorporate animation & video editing techniques into songwriting workshops – ideas and discussion.
Accreditation for Group Workshop
- How to complete an assessment sheet
- Demonstrating good examples of evidence
- Different methods of identifying participants
- Breaking down unit criteria
- Managing time and knowing what is achievable
Tutor Development Placements
The workshops form part of CMW’s tutor development training. By working alongside experienced tutors, the placements offer ‘real life’ work experiences to tutors who are either new to Community Music tutoring or would like to develop their skills in different area.
It offers placement opportunities including:
- Working with individuals and groups with severe learning & physical difficulties
- Working with large groups
- Working to a performance and deadline
- Paperwork management
- Working as part of a team.
