Course Description

This course offers a introduction to the skills needed to teach others, using the principles of community arts.

N.B. This course covers a range of art forms. For music-specific training see our Music Mentoring course

What will I learn?

Topics covered include:

  • Introduction to the role and responsibilities of an arts mentor
  • What helps people learn
  • How to communicate clearly
  • Choosing and creating creative ideas
  • Boundaries, Confidentiality and Health and Safety

Methods 

  • Individual Practice
  • Practical exercises and games
  • One-to-one teaching practice
  • Role Plays
  • Placements with experienced CMW tutors

What Will I Gain?

You will have the opportunity to submit a portfolio of evidence to be awarded a level 2 credit which can count towards further educational qualifications.
